Arena Assault Event Recap

The white chalk dust has finally settled from the Arena Assault CrossFit competition last weekend. We want to extend a heartfelt “Thank You” to those who participated in the 1st Arena Assault at CrossFit Athlete’s Arena and a very special “We Couldn’t Have Done It Without You” to all of our volunteers.

All athletes had great performances and the event had several inspiring moments. We had one team deadlift a combined weight of over 1,000 lbs. Many PRd their deadlift at the competition and everyone rocked it out when it came to the sandbag cleans. We cannot say enough about how impressive these athletes are. The support they showed to each other through the competition was positive and motivating  and it was great to see teams who finished a WOD cheering on those who were just a few reps behind.

Thanks to Derrick Philips a/k/a the “Flow Wizard” who kept the competition running smoothly. We are so glad to have you back in the gym, even if it was only so we could hear your voice over the megaphone.  Jeffrey Steadley, who knew you were so good at multi-tasking (running the clock and judging). We are also thankful to you because Arena Assault was your brainchild. Caroline Martin and Ryan Gates were instrumental in putting this event together. We appreciate all you and the Columbia Combat Challenge Team did to help make this event happen.

Thanks to Sorinex Equipment, NutriShop and Massage by Donna for donating incredible prizes and swag bags for our winners. You guys and gals are awesome.

At the end of the day, we were able to give $300 to Columbia Firefighters Local 793. We are thankful for them and are glad we were able to contribute to those men and women who risk their lives everyday and keep us safe.

Thanks again to those who participated. We are humbled and thankful for everyone who worked so hard to make this event a success and we look forward to hosting the 2nd Annual Arena Assault in the spring of 2017.

Here’s complete standings from the Arena Assault. Photos from the event are posted on our FB page.
